Christmas Mass FAQ
Please be patient and charitable to others! We wish to accommodate the needs of all our parishioners and guests and keep everyone safe and healthy. Thank you for your assistance.
Q: Is Christmas a Holy Day of Obligation? Am I required to attend under penalty of sin?
A: Only during normal circumstances is Christmas a Holy Day of Obligation. The obligation to attend Mass on Sundays and Holy Days has been temporarily dispensed by Archbishop Naumann due to the pandemic. The dispensation continues because the Church does not want to place a moral burden on those who should not attend Sunday Mass or Holy Days because of age or health conditions and due to occupancy limitations due to social distancing.
Q: To attend Christmas Mass, do I need to do anything in advance?
A: Yes! Due to capacity limitations and to ensure proper social distancing, reservations are required for Christmas Mass. You can sign-up for Christmas Mass HERE.
Q: I signed up for Christmas Mass. How do I know my seats are reserved?
A: After signing up, a confirmation is sent to the email address you provided during your reservation. If you signed up and did not receive a confirmation, please contact us at 913-747-9636 or email@example.com to confirm your reservation. Please note: the Parish Office reserves the right to make slight adjustments to seating reservations so we can accommodate as many families as possible. If an adjustment was made to your seating reservation, you would have received a new confirmation from Eventbrite.
Q: Where is Christmas Mass?
A: Mass on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day will be at Divine Mercy Parish Hall located at 555 W Main St, Gardner, KS 66030 (the sign at the street says “Sacred Heart Church”). Please enter the PARISH HALL only where indicated at the back of the building.
Q: Where is the entrance to the Parish Hall?
A: The entrance to the parish hall is at the back of the building (on the south side).
Q: Where do I park?
A: Park at the back of the building. Signs will direct you to the correct building entrance at the back of the Parish Hall. *Do not park on the west side of the hall, as this is a fire lane.
Q: How early can I arrive?
A: Arrive no more than 30 minutes before Mass is to begin.
Q: How will I know where to sit? Do I need to bring my reservation confirmation?
A: There is no need to bring the confirmation with you to Christmas Mass. Upon entering the parish hall, you will receive a card with your name on it and the seats from your reservation. The sections and rows in the parish hall will be labeled and Ushers will be available to assist you in finding your seat.
Q: Will masks be required?
A: Yes, all attendees are asked to bring their own mask that covers the nose and mouth and wear it at all times while in our facility, including while sitting in your seats (masks are removed momentarily while receiving Holy Communion)
Q: If I am not able to attend in person, will there be a live-stream option available to watch?
A: Yes, Christmas Mass will be available via live-stream on Church of the Ascension's website with Archbishop Joseph Naumann presiding on December 24th at 6:00pm. Click HERE to watch Mass live.
