54 Day Rosary Novena for Greater Trust i

August 2020 - An analysis is completed to review the original assumptions of the New Parish School Recommendations.

August 30, 2020 - St. John Paul II Parish begins a 54 day novena for a greater trust in Jesus.  This novena ends on the feast day of St. John Paul II.

September 11, 2020 - St. John Paul II Parish requests permission from Archbishop Joseph Naumann to allow for an alternative phase one building on our campus.

October, 2020 - Archbishop Joseph Naumann gives approval for an alternative plan for phase one building.

November 12, 2020 - The building committee meets to discuss the needs of the parish to determine the best next step to move forward with phase one.

January 2020 - Registered households reaches 770.

March 2020 - Open Wide the Doors to Christ capital campaign put on hold due to the COVID19 pandemic.

March 13, 2020 - In response to the COVID19 global pandemic, Archbishop Joseph Naumann issued a dispensation to the faithful of the Archdiocese of Kansas City in KS from the obligation to attend Sunday Mass.

March 17, 2020 - Archbishop Joseph Naumann issues a statement declaring all public celebrations of Holy Mass in the Archdiocese of Kansas City in KS were to be cancelled.

May 2020 - St. John Paul II Parish resumes public Mass.  Mass is now being held at Divine Mercy Parish Hall in Gardner KS.

July 11, 2019 - Personal family visits for Open Wide the Doors to Christ capital campaign begin.

August 25, 2019 - Open Wide the Doors to Christ capital campaign prayer committee begins leading the parish in the Divine Mercy Chaplet following Mass.

September 22, 2019 - Open Wide the Doors to Christ capital campaign prayer committee begins to pray for each family by name.

November 24, 2019 - Archbishop Naumann's Shared Vision initiative: Encountering Christ in one another by twinning.  St. John Paul II joined together with Holy Name of Jesus Parish in Kansas City, KS to engage in projects of mercy and support in order to better encounter Christ in one another.

December 2019 - Began our first parish picture directory

December 8. 2019 - Procession for the Immaculate Conception.

SPRING 2019

January 27, 2019 - Town hall meeting to share the master plan with the parish.

 

February 2019 - Master plan parish survey sent to all registered parishioners seeking feedback on the master plan and to help us determine what could be built in our initial phase.

May 22, 2019 - Kick off meeting of Open Wide the Doors to Christ capital campaign volunteers 

June 29-30, 2019 - St. John Paul II Parish consecrated our first capital campaign to our Blessed Mother Mary.  We designated the Memorare as our campaign prayer which is recited before every Mass celebrated.

June 30, 2019 - Registered households reaches 745.

FALL 2018

July 2, 2018 - Selection of Sabatini Architects for St. John Paul II master planning process.​

 

July 17, 2018 - Master planning begins with parish leadership, building committee, and architects

August 7, 2018 - First parish town hall meeting held at Divine Mercy Parish hall to share progress made to date and request feedback from parishioners.

September 15, 2018 - St. John Paul II Parish hosts Financial Peace University classes every day of the week for nine weeks. Twenty percent of our parishioners participated, over $330K non-mortgage debt was paid off, 91 credit cards were cut up and over $695K was added to personal savings accounts.

SPRING 2018

March 18, 2018 - Registered households reaches 700.​

January 9, 2018 - Weekday Mass begins at Cedar Lake Village Worship and Life Center on Tuesday through Friday at 7:00 AM.

FALL 2017

August 6, 2017 - Fr. Andrew announced St. John Paul II Parish vision statement to the parish.

September 10, 2017 - the parish has grown to 670 families, 100 of which had not been previously registered at a local Catholic parish.  We have grown to 6 dedicated staff members, two deacons, pastoral and finance councils, steering committee and many ministry groups.

November 12, 2017 - Our parish faith formation program began following the Church's teaching that the domestic church (the family) is the primary school of religion and that parents are the first witnesses of the faith to their children.

SPRING 2017

June 4, 2017 - Seminarian Andrew Gaffney was in residence at our parish for the summer.

June 3, 2017 - Saturday evening vigil Mass time changed to 4:00PM.

June 3, 2017 - Seventeen new permanent deacons were ordained for the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas by Archbishop Joseph Nauman.  Deacon Joe Allen, a JP2 parishioner was among them.

May 31, 2017 - First parish steering committee meeting

February 2017 - Parish launches an outreach program welcoming families to St. John Paul II Parish community.  JP2 "swag" is delivered to families by parish volunteers.

February 5, 2017 - Registered households reaches 543.

FALL 2016

December 1, 2016 - JP2KC.ORG website launched.

November 26, 2016 - Saturday evening vigil Mass at 5:30PM added to the schedule weekend Masses.

October 9, 2016 - Archbishop Joseph F. Naumann announces the name for the New Johnson County Catholic Parish - Saint John Paul II Parish.

September 4, 2016 - first Sunday Masses held at Madison Place Elementary School gym at 8:30AM and 10:30AM

May 29, 2016 - Reverend Andrew Strobl named as the first pastor of the New Johnson County Catholic Parish

May 29, 2016 - Decree by Archbishop Joseph F. Naumann announcing a territorial parish in Olathe, Kansas.  It will currently be known as New Johnson County Catholic Parish.
