The Door to True Freedom!

Live the Gospel this Week:

The Gospel on Sunday was a response (not an answer) to the question of whether just a few will be saved. What would cause someone to ask this question? Perhaps they consider themselves one of the lucky “few” who are on the right path and want a little validation; or maybe they are concerned that Jesus’ teachings are too difficult and want to lodge a complaint; or they could just be engaging in theological speculation about the end times and want greater understanding. To all of these motivations Jesus has one response: “Strive to enter through the narrow gate.” In other words, don’t let yourself get distracted from what is most important! The door to true joy and freedom stands open, but you must leave everything behind to enter it. Jesus calls us to die in order that we might live, to suffer that we might be healed, to let go of all those things we cling to for security and trust in Him alone. The door is open – but it will soon be closed and locked! Let us “strengthen our drooping hands” and “weak knees” and continue to strive after Christ, living each day as though it is our last.

Weekly Challenge:

This week, spend time in prayer asking God to reveal His love to you amidst all of the difficulties and trials in your life. What is He trying to you teach you? Meditate on the Second Reading from today, and ask your Heavenly Father for an increase in faith and hope!
