St. Mary's Food Kitchen

St. Mary's Food Kitchen is a non-profit organization that serves approximately 300 hungry people every day of the year (109,200 meals a year). Throughout the pandemic, they have been serving upwards of 800 lunches each day.  Located at 645 Nebraska Ave, Kansas City, KS 66101, it is one of the largest food kitchens in the Kansas City area.

St. John Paul II Parish provides food and service to St. Mary's Food Kitchen the fourth Friday of each month.
Because of COVID-19 we have suspended preparing dishes, and serving. In the meantime, an online sign-up for sack lunches is being created each month to donate and give out a grab and go option.  Check back the first week of  the month to participate and help contribute to feeding upwards of 650 people each day!
Prepare a dish:
On the second weekend of the month, sign-ups, casserole dishes and recipes are available at the Hospitality Table after all Masses.  We typically prepare meatloaf and cheesy potato casserole.

We also take 15 cans (the big #10, 6lb cans) of green beans or fruit to the food kitchen each month.  Donations of these cans may be bought to the parish office anytime.
On the second weekend of the month, server volunteer sign-ups are available at the Hospitality Table after all Masses. 10-12 servers are needed each month.  Volunteers must be at least 14 years old, and volunteers age 14-17 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.  Serving commitment includes:  arriving at 8:50am at the Parish Rectory to carpool to the food kitchen, setting up, serving lunch off a buffet, and cleaning up.
